Intel PC-RSVP

Applications

Intel’s PC-RSVP (ReSerVation Protocol) software was designed to benefit applications that manipulate rich content such as graphics, video or sounds over a network. It can also be used by developers who need to control the time it takes to send a message between two PCs. At Networld+Interop ‘96, Intel demonstrated an RSVP video link between the Intel and MCI booths. The demonstration highlighted the quality of the video images as the network became loaded with traffic from other applications.

Corporate MIS managers can also deploy RSVP on their intranets to control mission critical application that must have some bandwidth available to them to run properly. In that setting RSVP can help control and manage bandwidth, an often critical and under-managed resource.

Intel has developed the Intel PC-RSVP software, which is designed to implement the RSVP standard defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Intel’s PC-RSVP software is available from Intel. Software developers can license PC-RSVP for Windows* 95 or Windows NT* from Intel by completing the Software License Request form, paying the applicable license fee, and agreeing to the terms of Intel’s PC-RSVP Redistribution License Request.
